The Residential Construction Industry Training Organization of British Columbia (RCITO) promotes, develops, coordinates and manages the delivery of effective and efficient industry training and trades qualifications in the BC residential construction industry by responding to the skills and training needs of employers and workers.
 
RCITO provides leadership and support to ensure that industry training programs match the supply of and demand for skilled workers, and support residential construction building and renovation growth. It is a consortium of industry groups including the following associations representing several hundred companies:
 
  • Canadian Home Builders’ Association of British Columbia
  • Independent Contractors and Businesses Association of BC
  • Heating, Ventilation and Cooling Industry Association of BC
  • Residential Hot Water Heating Association of BC
  • Log and Timber Building Industry Association
 
In addition to overseeing general construction trades required in residential construction, RCITO provides leadership for the following industry training programs:
 
  • Residential Construction Framing Technician
  • Log Builder
  • Building Maintenance Worker
  • Residential Heating Technician
  • Building Envelope Technician
  • New programs to be developed in other trades such as Residential Formwork, Residential Interior Finishing, Residential Exterior Finishing, etc.
 
The Residential Construction Industry Training Organization (RCITO) is approved by the Industry Training Authority (ITA) under the Industry Training Authority Act (ITAA) as the Industry Training Organization (ITO) for the residential construction industry in British Columbia. The ITO initiative is the key part of ITA’s strategic shift to moving towards a truly industry-led training system. ITA intends to structure ITOs to enable industries to play a key role in defining and addressing the training needs of their sectors.
