What is HardHats?
HardHats is a 12 week carpentry trades training program delivered by GT Hiring Solutions Inc. on behalf of CHBA-BC and is a stepping-stone for individuals interested in pursuing trade apprenticeship like the new Residential Framing Technician Credential. HardHats graduates are currently completing RCFT Level 1 exam and are registered carpentry apprentices.
What is taught?
The 12 week course is comprised of ‘hands-on’ practical training.
• Safety training & certification includes: Occupational First Aid Level 1, WHMIS, Shop and fall safety and Traffic Control Certification.
• Trades’ training includes: Mechanical/Power Tools, Measuring & Math Skills, Carpentry Forms and Foundations, Carpentry Framing, Staircases and Rafters, Exterior Envelope, Interior Finishing (including Painting, Taping and Drywall), Roofing.
• Skills training includes: weekly site tours and industry guest speakers
