Education & TrainingThe Canadian Home Builders’ Association of British Columbia recognizes that the decision to seek education must be seen as a business decision. The most effective way in which this can be achieved is through a certification program, at the end of which builders have something tangible they can use to promote their business, or through which they can affect savings. CHBA BC has invested considerable time, energy and dollars in developing one of North America’s first industry-driven self-certification programs.
The following courses are required courses for the
Registered Housing Professional and
Certified Residential Builders Certification as well as the
Registered Renovation Professional and
Certified Renovator Certification programs: BC Building Code - Single Family Dwellings, Construction Law, Financial Management, Marketing and Project Sales, Project Management and Site Supervision and Built Green™BC Builder Training. Five new courses including Business Planning and Management, Human Resources Planning and Management, Safe Work Practices, Communication and Negotiation and Sevice and Warranty will be required along with the required suite of courses to obtain the
Registered Master Builder (RMB),
Certified Master Builder (CMB) and the
Graduate Master Builder (GRB) designations.
Online Course Registration
The Canadian Home Builders’ Association of British Columbia now requires online registration for its entire course offering whether or not they are designed specifically as an online course. If you or your employer has ever taken a course offered through CHBA or you or your employer have been or are a member of CHBA BC you are likely already in our Learning Management System (LMS) database. If this is the case you should have received a username and password via email, if not please contact your local association or the course administrator at
michelle@chbabc.org. You will require this to access your company and personal records. If you want to visit the LMS site for contact and other information please use the link provided below.
PLEASE do not create a new account as the database will generate a duplicate record and cause unnecessary confusion in the future.
NOTE: Early registration is necessary for all online courses. These courses require the advance receipt of online assignments by way of email and successful completion of the online material and chapter tests. Attendance is required at a one-day in-class session to review all material, prepare for and write a final exam.
